Crafting Historical Authenticity: Basarab Heritage & Magdalena of Zolchow Historica

Basarab Heritage is pleased to announce its collaboration with Magdalena of Zolchow Historica.

Bringing together traditional craftsmanship, historical research and a particular understanding of Eastern European, Wallachian and Byzantine textile traditions, Magdalena creates bespoke historical attire for Vladislav Carol Nicolae and for representatives and companions of the Basarab Heritage initiative.

Each garment is individually crafted by hand, from the selection and treatment of fabrics to the finer details of its cut, construction and embellishment. The work draws upon historical models and regional traditions, with particular attention to the materials, forms and techniques that give historical dress its distinctive character.

The first examples of this collaboration, together with insights into their historical context and craftsmanship, will be presented on our platform and at upcoming living history events.

Through this collaboration, Basarab Heritage seeks to strengthen the connection between historical research, traditional craftsmanship and the presentation of the past in a tangible and historically informed form.
